PTEE | High Performance Plastics

PTFE/Glass Fabrics & Tapes

This grouping of high performance materials is best known for the woven fiberglass coated with teflon resin. This can be supplied as fabrics, belts, or pressure sensitive tapes. The best known trade names for this class of products are Greenbelt®, Fluorglass®, Taconic®, and CHR®. These products offer the following combination of properties:

  • Ani stick, high slip
  • High/low temperature range
  • Excellent electrical insulation
  • Moisture and corrosion resistance

The fabrics are used for gaskets, seals, and diaphragms. The tapes are primarily used for heat sealing fins, release coverings, bushing and bearing liners, and many slide and guide applications.

The thickness range is 002″ through 024″ The standard width is 36″, but can be sit to any width and is 50K in ros

Also in the PTFE/ Glass “family” are: Adhesive backed – pure PTFE, Kapton®, UHMW, Teflon coated aluminum foil.

Fluorofab Fabrics and Belting

Fluorofab fabrics and belting are made from woven fiberglass cloth that has been coated with Teflon. These products offer
the well-known properties of Teflon, while being dimensionally stable from -400°F to + 600°F. They are non-toxic, odorless tasteless and have been cleared by the FDA for use in food processing, packaging and handing. They are ideally suited for a variety of industrial applications.

Typical Fabric and Belting Applications

Heat sealing plastic films

  • Reusable laminating press release separator material
  • Tray ining for nonsick baking and drying
  • Conveyorized cooking and food processing
  • Rotary Band Sealers
  • Converized shrink tunnels

Silicone/ Glass Fabrics and Belting

Silicone, Glass Fabrics are made from woven fiberglass cloth that has been coated on one or both sides with Silicone. The
end result is a line of products With excellent release properties. coupled with the strength and tear resistance of fibenglass.

In fact, silicone fabrics will release from many adhesive materials that would normally stick to Teflon. The operating temperature range of silicone fabrics is from -100°F to +500°F. Dielectric strength is high, as is resistant t wear and flexing,

Typical Fabric and Belting Applications

Shrink tunnel curtains

  • Gasketing
  • Release sheet,/separator material
  • Converyorized shrink twnnels
  • Conveyorized quick freeze chambers
  • Mid-temperature process conveyors

Fluorofab Tape 100 Series

Fluorofab tapes are made from woven fiberglass cloth that has been coated with Teflon. We then apply a silicone adhesive.
system for the highest temperature applications. or an acrylic adhesive system for applications that require a more agressive adhesive at lower temperatures.

Typical Applications and Features

Covering the sealing surfaces on polyethylene bag-making equipment

  • Guide rails and chute linings
  • Nonstick roll covering
  • Excellent release qualities
  • Chemical resistance
  • Easy to apply

Skived Teflon 110 Series

This is pure unsupported virgin Teflon film with all the characteristics of our Fluorofab tape plus the advantage of being very comfortable. It easy stretches and is often used to line large molds. We adhesive-coat this tape with a high temperature silicone adhesive system.

Typical Applications and Features

Covering the heat sealing surface on: L Bar Sealers Impulse
Sealers. Bag Sealers

  • Guide rail and chute linings
  • Mold release
  • Abrasion resistant, low-friction surface
  • Exceptional electrical properties
  • Easy o apply

UHMW Polyolefin Tape 130-Series

UHMW tapes are made from ultra-high molecular weight polyolefin with an aggressive acrylic adhesive system. They are
much more abrasive resistant and puncture resistant than Teflon, but with a similar nonstick and low coefficient of friction surface. UHMWY is FDA-approved an suitable for temperatures up to 225°F.

Typical Applications and Features

Wear strips, chute linings

  • Gude rais, work surfaces
  • Furniture drawer sides
  • Superior abrasion resistant
  • Puncture resistant
  • Easy to apply

High Modulus Teflon Tape 115-28, 150-25 Series

High Modulus Teflon Tapes are pure unsupported virgin Teflon similar to Skived Teflon, but much denser and stronger. These tapes are ideally suited as a high-temperature roller wrap during flat die polyethylene extrusion and laminating processes. They also possess unusually high dialectric strengths and are often used to insulate coils and transformers.

Typical Applications and Features

Roller wrapping

  • Electrical insulation
  • Excellent release characteristics
  • Abrasion resistant, low-friction surface
  • Chemical resistant
